Gentlemen and Ladies, which among you might have an idea about the 2 collectors marks on this oil painting, both on the stretcher on the frame, one is a circular wax seal with some writing the other takes the form of a medal with words around the edge one being ’silvestre’
Please take a look and give me your thoughts I would love to understand
Peter
Well it’s based on The Death of a Stag in Glen Tilt by Edwin Landseer.
The painting looks interesting and Scottish. I suggest you take contact with their National Gallery. They have one, I'm sure.

You are both correct it is a representation of Landseer’s ‘Death of a stag at glen tilt’
But that’s not the question, which was do you know whos the Red wax mark also who’s is the medal like item with ‘silvestre ‘ written on it
?
The Scottish National Gallery might also know something about the mark and the item.
Golgatha, many thanks, I have contacted them after your comment x
