This is an 18 x 15 inch airbrushed tintype ON PURE TIN (very soft and malleable). If anyone knows about this genre I would love some information.

Does anyone know about large tintypes on pure tin plates?

The edges show chipping and holes— looks to be a paper image mounted to some sort of board or canvas.

I was looking at top left side— which looks like paper.

Just looked at bottom and the right side and now see metal. Maybe the paper image was applied to a thin metal surface?

there is no paper layer; the airbrushing is directly on pure tin; I had to take it apart to replace broken glass - when I tried to remove it from the frame it immediately started to bend in my fingers; it cannot stand on its own without a rigid backing. Some areas of the tin were pushed out slightly from the back to give a gentle 3D effect; those areas were filled in with wax.
