One more Rococo French clock
Phillipe H. Mourey, French 1840-1910, was a master French Sculptor. He was best known for his association with Japy Freres & Co. the noted 19th C. Paris Clockmaker. His clock cases are usually gilt metal case and marked P H Mourey. He Decorated with rococo and classical motifs, flowers etc. Inset with painted in Watteau style porcelain plaques, this clock has no porcelain plaques. The movement maker or reseller of this clock was, Levi Freres. The clock keeps pretty accurate time. It is 19" long, 14" tall, and 5" in depth. I don't know who the personage on the clock finial is holding the globe and going over his charts but I call it my Charlemagne clock who is my 34th great grandfather (Mom's side) according to my genealogy, and the first Holy Roman emperor.
Wow! Congratulations on being able to trace your ancestry that far back. Also, I love the clock although I have no info about it.
