This one has a floral design to the front and a smaller design to the rear. On both there are leaves, ferns, foxgloves and a red hot poker, to give them their common names. The enamelling is precise and in high relief.
I think this would have been made when mirrored over mantels were popular. If the vase were placed a little forward of the mirror you would have been able to see the reflection of the design on the rear.
Height 20 cm./8 inches
Is it uranium glass?
BHIFOS, I'm sorry, UV reaction doesn't interest me, so I don't have a torch.
Absolutely beautiful vase, lovely color and design
Very nice precise enamelling.
The enamel work is wonderful. Talented artists at Harrach and that it has survived for over a century is a testament to care and quality.
beautiful hermoso
Newfld, thank you. Harrach enamelling on this colour is an addiction I'm trying to break...........
Thank you, Iwona, I don't think anyone beats them for enamelling.
I think you are totally right, Karen. I suspect that the more expensive Bohemian production would have been kept in cabinets, which always helps!
Thank you, Sylvia, for rating the vase, as gorgeous.
And another gorgeous piece! You have a very nice Harrach collection now, Peggy! :)
