Seems kinda strange to refer to them as such, but I guess they nearly qualify as 'vintage' by now?? (at the rate crap like this changes shape and usability these current days, anyways??) Here we have a TIVO Series 2 digital video recorder and a SAMSUNG HDTV digital satellite receiver, both made in 2002 and both (near as I know anyway) completely functional as intended.
ALSO, both nearly USELESS not quite 20 yrs later -- the TiVo requires a 'by landline telephone' connection to some paid subscription service (that may or may not still exist?) and the Samsung, obviously, needs an actual 'satellite dish' -- I have neither of those. (nor do a whole lotta anybody else anywhere else) Either one of these could possibly be "hacked" into some semblance of function, I don't really know. Why do I *have* them?? I don't really know that either...?? <lolol>
Bet there's a hard drive with some nice magnets inside the tivo?
I've. Umm..looked inside those satellite boxes..they did funny things..like seal boards that aren't even connected and added boards to confuse you. I have a digital tuner box and black box somewhere..the days before digital and 2 way encryption.
