This 1 3-4" penguin brooch has black enamel, a faux freshwater pearl tummy & white rhinestone accents of top hat, webbed feet and "candy" cane, on goldtone. By Kenneth Jay Lane ca 1990s

I first seen this as a platypus, with the long 'duckish' sort of beak! At first I thought the thumbnail was difficult to make out, but now I can see his long black beak and his white front! Very seasonal penguin, with a little candy cane too- I think maybe Santa has been and gifted him that candy cane- he's definitely clutching it proudly anyway!
Love this penguin for a night out on the town, he is going home now possibly from an early Christmas Party or Soiree, all dandied up !~

Lauren you are so perceptive, with the odd beak & webbed feet it does look quite like a duck which was my husband's guess too - I had to google others of these to be sure it's a penguin, often described as "whimsical," certainly not ordinary!
