Here's another one that's just gotta be antique...?? The oval shaped frame is 25" x 19", its current gold color has probably been re-done sometime as the fancy plaster decoration on it has been chipped up but recovered, and the current outside coat is flaking a little bit in places. It has gold hanging cords on each end with tassels and 'picture-rail' type brass hooks.
The domed glass it holds has what seems to be a reverse-painted scene of a tranquil farmhouse amongst trees and a pond. Besides being incredibly detailed, it is most interesting because the front of the house and sun (moon?) in the sky above it have an opalescent appearance. I don't have any idea what that might be called or how it was done, and if there is an artist's name on it I haven't found it yet.
There is *something* handwritten in cursive pencil on the back, but I cannot make out exactly what it says.
I'm gonna mark this one as "unsolved mystery" because I'm guessing there's probably much to learn about this one but I don't know any of it yet -- PLEASE speak up and leave a comment if anybody has ANY further clues about what it really is?!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
