This is the third one of these Beswick Campagna type Urns I've had, the second of this larger size and the other I had was about half of the size but regardless of whether they're big or small, people just love the quintessentially Neo-Classical form with its curved Socal-like base, ridged bulbous lower nipping in to an outwardly tapering top and one applied, strap handle each side.
When one thinks of the kind of wares Beswick was making at this time, the plain, monochromatic off white colour & striking form were a real departure from the norm for the company & undoubtedly one of my favorites by the maker.

Normally called an urn vase, Beswick shape # 1496 1/2/3. The designer was Albert Hallum in 1957. Issued 1957-1972., 1 is 25cm, 2 is 20.3cm, 3 is 6cm, the black or white was issued in matt finish only.

      # 3 should read 15 cm or 6 inches.

@PhilDMorris So that means there's an inbetween size I haven't yet had!!
      Time to go hunting.
Many thanks for your clarification with regards to designer & date. If I had to guess, I wouldn't have thought so late.

When I first saw your piece, it wasn't that appealing to me.. just not my cup of tea. But after seeing it on your stand .it's growing on me and I've changed my mind..

@dav2no1 I believe all antiques and decorative art can only be appreciated when placed within the context they are intended to be see in.
The cool, plain white glaze of the urn is juxtaposed beautifully against the warm depth & decorative carving of the Qing Dynasty stand.
Should I do a "Show & Tell" on the stand next?

You know, I've got a mini of this from lemogine... And I totally butchered the spelling.... It's so amazing to see one similar, from a different company, and way larger!
