What was this for? Light weight but we'll made. Seems British made by the style of markings on the body.. Decorated with sand dots on background like sand casting method. Still has the pin hookup on back but no pin. Petena is correct for the 1830- 1850s. Could this be a military hat pin? Please advise me on any information about this please. Found in an old house spot location with other military items too. Dean
