Here is a manually operated hair trimmer/groomer (I guess?) made by The JOHN OSTER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, the Model 105, in its original box. Squeezing its springloaded handles (stamped respectively with the Co. name and Model#) makes its precisely ground and sharpened sets of 'teeth' slide back and forth, in the same way current day electric trimmers work. (but slower) I can't say I've seen one like it being used, not to mention haven't ever used one (it) myself, but it would seem like it could be a handy thing for what I believe they call "lining out" ones hair, these days...?? :-)
The MILWAUKEE 17 WISCONSIN U.S.A. location shown for the Company makes me want to think it was made in the 1950's, I haven't checked to see if similar things are still available from OSTER or anybody else...
Just in time for the Christmas trimming
