Always grab the boxful of 'sewing stuff' when cleaning out (anybody's) gramma's house -- the old bird is likely to have had a few little antique-ish TOOLS stashed up in there too, amongst the thread spools and such?!! Here's a couple pair of really nicely made scissors from just such a place. :-)
They're both about 6" long, shown with my lighter for size comparison in the first pic. The pair with the extra handle tang (what's that called?) look like barber scissors I suppose, they have a maker's name of "GIESEN & FORSTHOFF SOLINGEN GERMANY" on one side and "Prosperity 59" on the other. The other pair were probably sewing scissors, they are decorated with a rather ornate stamped pattern around their decoratively shaped handles. They have "MARSHALL FIELD & Co." on one side with "GERMANY" on the other.
