Wishing all you CW folks a happy & peaceful Christmas. It's been another challenging year, so let's take some time to care for ourselves as well as those we love. Be kind to yourself, try to find a little wonder & magic in the everyday, & make the most of whatever you've got.
I think us collectors have it really good, because in a way, it's always a little like Christmas for us.
Last year one of my presents was this handsome tuxedo cat named Clayton. He arrived as thousands of tiny bricks which had to be assembled just like a piece of flat - pack furniture.
Soon he will be celebrating his first birthday (it took me four days to build him from the paws up). Like all cats, he finds Christmas trees fascinating!
For a minute there, I feared Uno had been catnapped….but, no, he’s right here begging for my food after he just ate his own.
I love your beautiful tuxedo cat who will nicely put his paws on gifts but won’t tear the bows to shreds…you have the best house cat ever!
I love everything about your tree, from the black stat down to the cat-themed gift wrap. And, of course, fabulous Clayton!!
Love Clayton! Have a wonderful Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!! I hope you have the BEST Christmas ever!!
Merry Christmas, Marin!! :-) :-) :-)
Many thanks, Patricia!
Yes, Clayton definitely looks like your Uno...& after unwrapping my presents, there will be another new "cat" in our house, a Bengal. Who comes with the option of being assembled in four different poses! So now I have to choose which one I want...better put my thinking cap on...Clayton meanwhile received a Nano block birthday cake which also needs to be assembled!
Usually Clayton lives under a small table in the kitchen where he can keep a watch on what's happening...
Thanks also, vintagelamp, & wishing you all the best, too!
Much appreciated, Scott, & the same to you!
Yes, I've had a wonderful day, with so many fabulous presents received & given, & we've just enjoyed a nice lunch of prawn (shrimp) salad. In Australia seafood is a very popular option at Christmas because we are lucky to have lots of excellent fresh produce, & it's also much more appropriate for summer. Tonight we're having baked salmon followed by Italian Christmas cake, panettone. And a lot of French champagne!
The weather has gone from hot & sunny this morning to a thunderstorm in the afternoon, pretty typical for where we live...
Thanks also, AnythingObscure!
Merry Christmas, Marin!
I love Clayton!!!
Marin, sometimes I think Clayton may be the best breed of cat to have….no upholstery to cover in plastic, no fragile items to secure with museum putty, no rooms of delicate plants and pretty things to close off. Be sure to show us the cake and newest kitty when you get all those countless teeny blocks assembled!
WONDERFUL Post, be thankful Clayton can not climb that tree for real!, I haven't been able to have a real - fully decorated tree in years (after the kids anyway) the cat I have loves the trunk of the tree and climbs right up it every time. OMG. Your kind words are inspirational - Merry Christmas. Lori
Merry Christmas Marin!! I love your photos - and Clayton! Your plans for celebrating the day sound lovely, too. Thank you for sharing your creativeness with us all year round. I hope you have a very happy New Year!
As much as I love cats, I think I have to agree, Patricia! I was thinking of maybe getting a cat now I'm settled, but after some sad experiences in the past, I don't think I can go there again. Also, we live on a fairly busy street, & a lot of people in the area are against cats. So, Clayton is the ideal solution! And I'll definitely post photos of his birthday cake, as well as the new addition. I'm still trying to decide which of the four possible poses I'll build it in. The Bengal cat looks a lot more complicated than Clayton, as it has a spotted pattern...
Thanks also, Pascale! Merry Christmas to you, too!
Many thanks, Lori!
Back when I had cats in my life, I soon learned that I couldn't have a Christmas tree anymore...so for over 20 years or so, it was a treeless festive season in my house!
Thanks so much, Michelle, & wishing you all the best for the New Year as well!
So glad that you've enjoyed my posts, too!
Hope you had a wonderful day, Marin.. I love your Christmas tree and of course Clayton..he is amazing, I’d love a cat too! but I love the birds too much that live and visit out garden, we have so many different babies hoping around at the moment.
Happy New year, Marin!.. I do hope it’s a brilliant one for you.
Many thanks, Penny! Yes, I had a great day, really relaxed & enjoyable.
Clayton is definitely the answer to my cat ownership dilemma...so, if you're into building your own, I can highly recommend it! Jekca is the brand of bricks he's made from, & they have a huge range of cats, dogs, & other critters to build. Each layer of bricks is secured with tiny pins which you insert with an equally tiny screwdriver that's included in the set.
Wishing you a Happy New Year, too!
