1828-30 (published)
ARTIST/MAKER
Thomas McLean (publisher)
Dean & Munday (lithographers)
PLACE OF ORIGIN
London (published)
Satirical fashion print showing a woman in a short petticoat and low-cut corset exposing her breasts standing before a full length cheval mirror, placing a gold comb with pink feathers into her hair. Her maid kneels behind her, attaching a bustle to the back of her mistress's skirt.
Found this today and couldn't resist. Third photo on display at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Beautiful and intriguing picture, nice aqua colors. Love the maid's resigned expression as she fusses over her vain mistress
Newfld,
Thank you! I love the way that it was matted as well.
Nice! The mat looks like it's embroidered. Very nice. It looks as tho the artist drew more detail & finishing touches on the maid than the mistress. Nice picture.
Yes! More detail on the maid. I am not exactly sure haow the mat is made but I really like it. Found this in more of a junk store so the price was way too good to pass it up.
This picture didn't bring me much luck. Last night a drunk driver plowed through my front yard destroying most of my fence and part of the garden about ten monutes after I was in the same area with my dogs.
Maybe it did bring you & the dogs luck, thank goodness you're all safe, you can fix the fence but your life is saved - as my uncle used to say, what a close shave, and great to hear that you're OK
I'll agree with Newfld. So glad you & dogs were not in the way. Thanks for sharing this cool picture.
Newfld and Alfie,
Yes, I will look at it that way. My dogs mean the world to me and I am so happy that we are all still here.
