Hi Guys...
This is nothing especially old or special, but I was wondering if you guys would happen to know what this is used for. I found that in an old box with my dad's wood carving chisels. I can't imagine what he used it for.
Thanks so much. Your help unravels some of the mystery of a part of his life that I never got very much involved in.
Eric
I'm not sure this is a tool as much as a 'thing' - the double threaded shaft portion is a hardware item called a 'hanger bolt', they come in lots of sizes and threads and are usually used when a couple pieces of a large wood thing are meant to be able to be regularly detached from each other, the wood-threaded end is permanently installed so the wingnut can be removed/replaced without having to rethread the screw portion each time. The stamped wingnut on yours is kinda unique, perhaps somebody will recognize that part from something specific??
