Is anybody else here (in the US, anyway) a WHEEL WATCHER like I am -- and/or have any of 'ya ever seen one of these things??
Back in late 1988 (until 1990 at least) you could actually use this by aiming it at the TV screen during evening broadcasts of Wheel of Fortune, and it could somehow 'pick up' the puzzles as they appeared on the show, so 'contestants at home' could (nearly) play along in 'real time'. It didn't send your letter guesses *back* to the TV of course, but still was a pretty nifty little bit of 'howzitdoTHAT?' at the time?? Frankly, I still don't know how it worked...???
I've had it since it was new, it's been in storage for years until I came across it again recently. Still in its original box with the booklet of extra puzzles that came with it, it could (probably still can, if I put batteries in it and tried?) be used as a standalone game without the TV show broadcast, too.
