This pair are about 2-1/4" tall, made of some kind of sturdy plastic (bakelite I hope) in a gently tapered ribbed shape. Color coded brown and white caps thread into their bottoms to seal them. There aren't any marks to suggest who made them, I'll guess they are 1960's in age but don't know that with certainty. The pepper shaker has a tiny crack near its base that looks like its been there for a long time already.
They look great with my yellow/red kitchen colors, but I don't think I'll clean them and return them to daily service...I'd imagine they are more brittle than they were in their earlier lifetime, and wouldn't want to risk inadvertently hurting one of them... <fingerwag><nono>
Have u tried Mr Clean Magic Eraser sponges? They work wonders, even with very gentle touching. (The sponges work much better than the little pads of tear-off sheets, btw).
