This little trinket box is about 5-1/2" square and 2-1/4" tall. All four sides and both sides of the simply hinged lid have a pattern that mostly looks like cherry branches. I believe the pattern is "pressed" into the wood vs. being engraved or burned in, and it has a brown stain without further finish on it, together with what seems to be a good bit of shelf dust. ;-) :-) There aren't any other marks besides the pattern.
I'm wanting to think this is a 1960's-70's 'imported decorative thing', akin to what we'd now find at someplace like Pier1 Imports (do they still exist?) simply because I kinda think I remember a similar one in the home I grew up in, being used to hold playing cards or paper clips or something.
No matter what it is or where it came from, I'm sure I can find *something* to put in it...?? <lol>
