Electrolux company's brochure from 1979 of vacuum models and years, showing photos of each tank. My collection has the rarest - not even on the brochure - the "Type 7". Even the collectors haven't heard of it. My guess is that it was sold only in Sweden before they came to this country.

Your collection sucks! Pun intended! How did this happen? Meaning...how did you start collecting vacuum cleaners?

THANK YOU for showing this!! What an easy and concise reference for amateur suck-o-lux collectors (like me!) to use in dating our own machines!!!

      To dav2no1:
To answer your question about how I started collecting vacuum cleaners: I worked for Electrolux from 1965 to 1971, and was exposed to their history in Sweden and the introduction of the Model V in 1924 in the USA. I also had access to some very old machines taken in on trade, and kept in the basement of the store. Anything newer than the 1920's vintage was sold monthly for $6-$10 to a small company that cleaned them up and sold them used.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense now. These are pretty cool looking. We never had any. We did have a hoover that is round and looks like a giant fishing bobber...I remember that one. I think there's a few more around here I'll have to dig out.
