I have these two flow blue border plates. Both seem to be by maker Arthur Wilkinson c 1907. Only problem is in the FBICC database this mark is used on a plate that has an image of the capital building on it. Others have told me they believe these plates are mistakenly marked. So these would be factory errors. What I'm wondering is are factory errors rare? Are they like coins more collectible? Or are they less desirable? Anyway I thought this would be a great place to share them. ANY comments appreciated, Thanks!

I can't confirm or deny your plate being mismarked but you pose an interesting question. I can assure you that mismarked or error plates are in fact more rare and more collectible. Problem is setting a price and then finding a buyer. I have a plate that was a factory reject based on the shape and it has the artists signature on the front. It is an Iva Lure plate and the artists design was rejected by Iva Lure. The design was later purchased and used by a German company. Nothing I plan to sell but researching it and the artist was very time consuming. Good luck with yours.

Very interesting... are all the plates mis-marked or just a number of them? Definitely makes for an interesting conversation...

The coloured prints in the centre are more interesting to my eye ... they relate back to earlier English porcelain decoration by Giles I suppose but these are not really exotic or aggressive in the Rococo manner - much more 'together'. All surrounded by a flow blue border of "a mix of flowers, seeds, fruits, and foliage." Interesting things. I saw the plate with the Capitol Building - someone's stuck on the commemorative label and it got past quality control. Perhaps someone can explain why Wilkinson would produce this plate in 1907 ???
