    Glass Insulators

    Picked up a few more insulators. These were a little different than others I own.

    Smallest one:
    HEMINGRAY -9 (CD 107)
    DATE CODE: 10-42::(1946)
    "This design was chosen to replace the popular CD 106 because it used less glass and was generally considered more robust."

    HEMINGRAY CD 128 CSA
    DATE CODE: 45-41. (1942)
    Early CSA insulator. Apparently a lot of these are faked.
    "This style is a carrier circuit insulator used for long distance telephone lines and was used in conjunction with a special steel pin with a lead lining (hence the "C" for Carrier Circuit and "S" for Steel pin; the meaning of "A", "O", and second "C" are unknown.) This style was also assigned the No.22CSC style number in 1942-1944, but no specimens exist with this style number."

    ARMSTRONG'S TW #42
    DATE CODE: 42 50..(1952)
    Funny story..looking for information about Armstrong's insulators, I stumbled across my own post...ha ha Forgot I had more Armstrong's.

    ***I will link that post in the comments, for those wanting to read up on Armstrong's insulators. In the comments of that post is some excellent insulator links.

    ***I found an excellent site for Hemingray insulators that i quoted from and will link that as well.

      Nice. I found two Hemmingray crackle glass insulators recently.

      Cool...check that last link for the database. And also the wanted section...there's one they said they'd pay $2000 for and another for $5000!

      I end up finding me when I research items too. Some fine insulators there.

      Great link! Looks like my two crackle glass insulators were intentionally heated and cooled to turn them into crackle glass for decorative purposes. Any collectible value they had was destroyed by doing this, but they are common ones. Very pretty sitting in a sunny window, though! I think I only paid $1 each for them...
