Got these really nice little statues today on a visit to the local charity shops, these two appear to be made out of that black soapstone judging by their weight and coldness alone...
I'm curious as to what statues they may be of- what figures or deities they might represent? Both look distinctly Hindu, or at the very least South East Asian or Indian and as I know very little of that culture, I don't want to make any assumptions as to what deities/figures they may represent, but I do like the exotic look and touch they bring décor wise though... :D
Both are a male and female figure with a six pointed star on the back of one and another strange symbol that's two leaf shape designs on it on the back of the other...
Cost- €8 (£6.68/$9.13)
Fascinating obsidian deity statues Lauren, they are very beautifully sculpted & quite mysterious! Will look very nice among your statue collection I think. Hope you can find someone here to recognize them, I love cultural items like this they have a spiritual quality & can bring good luck for the new year
Thank you Newfld for your thoughts and comments on these two! I also love the mystery surrounding them too! :)
i think they are Lakshmi from India.
Thank you hocultcha, I would have guessed Indian too at a glance- so that's nice to know they may be Indian alright!
