      Hi,
Looks like you may have an antique French Black Marble or Slate Mantel Clock. It's Time only and so could be accurately referred to as a "Time Piece". Always carry it with your fingers curled under the bottom of the case and never lift or carry it from the top of the case. The top could separate and let the rest of the clock fall to the ground.
      Thanks for sharing.

      Hi,

That's really difficult for me to say as I don't know a lot about French Clocks/Movements. Judging from the Suspension type (Valet), your movement could have been made as early as the mid 19th Century or later. When the movement was cased I can not say.

If you can post photos of more of the movement and pendulum bob, that might help to narrow things down a little, but I can promise you that it will.

      Regards,

      Bruce
