    Starr X Coca-Cola Bottle Opener

Funny how things work out sometimes...I was eyeballing a used patinaed Coca-Cola Opener a broker had. I just couldn't come to his price. Then I found this brand new one in the box. You know I love bottle openers. Not my first Starr X, but surprisingly my first Coca-Cola one.

Box has excellent graphics and information. Still looking to find data on dating boxes by the graphics. As usual, there are lots of fakes out there and misinformation.

I believe this one is made in the 1950s. It has the newer patent number. "All openers made after 1943 will have the newer patent number
"Any opener made between 1929 - the early 1970s would say "Made in the USA"."
So we know my opener has the newer patent number and is made between 1943-1970.

One interesting thing I discovered..above the "Made in U.S.A." is a number 27..I believe this correlates to where it was cast. If you compare this opener to my other Starr X opener, you can clearly see the stamping (VA. etc) on the front lines up differently depending on who made it.

***For information on Starr X history, I'll link my other post in the comments.

    Coca-Cola
In 1886 by an Atlanta pharmacist, John S. Pemberton (1831–88), created this formula at his Pemberton Chemical Company. The formula was intended as a medicine for temperance.

Nice. I have this one on the wall in my kitchen. I also found it new in the box, but it was before I started collecting stuff like this so just put it on the wall and tossed the box. It never occurred to me that it was collectible..
