Truthfully… what started out as curiosity, has manifested into a frustrating, fruitless investigation for information on the history of this exact matchbox print. Enough to posses me to post about it. I’ve searched extensively using both English and Russian wording and language. I have only found one identical picture online with a dead source. However, I found just one piece of information that may likely provide a historical connection. The logo that’s labeled on the match box is of the Byelorussian SSR or BSSR, as printed in Russian. The region of BSSR was a territory apart of the USSR and existed under that name from about 1920-1991 which then was renamed to Belarus. I came to have it through my great grandmother who lived in the area. I can’t calculate the date but she must’ve been younger as it was her late husbands. It would be really exciting to hear more about its background if there was a history interest out here. But if all this turns out to be a dud, I would have, at best, learned some history. Thanks!!
this is cool, I own a pack of cigarettes from Russia, I am a Russian daughter and it gives me a little bit of closeness with my father. .... memories....
