This vintage office item was issued by Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. this was available around 1984. The base is of high quality marble, and the holder is some kind of goldtone finish

Fabulous high quality vintage note holder, they don't make 'em like this anymore. My husband loves this type to hold his receipts (& give me grief about my spending :)

Thank you, Jenni! You are correct, the contemporary holders cheesy imitations of the older items.

I like acquiring such things for their practical, aesthetic, and historical value. And with many of the businesses having gone by the wayside, their nostalgic value is priceless.
