This classic building, located at W. Market and S. Maple Streets, Kingston, PA was originally owned by the Wood family, who were also the proprietors of the Kingston Coal Company. The family gave it to St. Ignatius Parish which used it as a convent for the IHM Sisters. It now houses various businesses.
Originally there was a roof over the arch on the side to protect arrivees from foul weather. And there was also at one time, a carriage house which was in the back yard. The carriage house, and the roof are gone, and the yard has been turned into a parking lot. I wonder what happened to the hitching post, which was situated on its Market St. curb? Thankfully, however, the bulk of the building's charms remains.
