Hello everyone!!
Among the many dogs I have in my collection is this little Dachshund foot scraper. It's the most unusual and the only one of it's kind that I've ever came across. It's also the only brass foot scraper that I own. I've seen similar designs depicting cats and other dog breeds, but not in the form of a Dachshund and definitely not in brass. I'm told that this is from the early 1900's or possibly earlier, but without any markings it's difficult to tell exactly when this was made. So, for now, I'll have to go with what I'm told. This is one of the smallest foot scrapers I own and measures only 11" long.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!!!
Scott
Very nice boot cleaner.
In reference to the small length, I think it could be from early 1900's - feet were not the large back then, the shoes were tied tightly and with tiny heels (for the women) they would not have needed that much scraping surface
- that's my opinion. Lori
Wonderful brass dachshund, the slim image so perfectly outlines this dog breed - great find Scott
Thanks Lori!! You may very well be right about that. I'm told that my Great Great Grandfather wore a size 6 men's shoe and was only 5' 4" tall.
Thank you Jenni!! Though it's small, it's one of my favorites.
