This 1.5" square advertising tin was used for ... surprise?! 'Notice well their velvety touch and strength'. it's so tiny and cute.

yup! what does the cut-out 'J' and 'S' stand for and what was it for?
    3. ho2cultcha ho2cultcha, 3 years ago
I just found out that J and S stand for Julius Schmid - the inventor of condoms in NYC where he started Sheik and Ramses - at first illegally as birth control was illegal until the 1920s. Julius Schmid was an immigrant from Germany whose first job in NY was as a sausage-stuffer. I wonder where he got the idea for condoms?!

I think the use of intestines for the same purpose has a much longer history than Julius’ work experience.
