The shirt is in rough condition, missing buttons and a bit small so just showing the patches. It is from 1952 according to the camp patch, actually perhaps a year or two older.
Starting off with the Racoon Patrol Patch. This is worn on the right sleeve. I don't think I have this one. Well I do now.
Next the right pocket which is a camp patch. Also the patch that dates this around 1952. This pockect is where some personalization can be done.
At photo #3 we have the rank patch, which is a Tenderfoot. Also a 1 year star. Plus you can see the metal button. Plastic buttons were used soon afyer this.
Last is the City Strip. One in this style is fairly uncommon. Also there is Troop number. Southgate is a suburb east of Los Angeles.
Tomorrow is the PCC Flea Market, second since the plague began. Have made some good buys there in the past.
I love that raccoon! I can think of funny stuff the Raccoon Patrol might do (roam the streets, raid pet food bowls, turn over the trash cans)…..but seriously, what were the requirements to earn that patch?
Thank you very much Watchsearcher. All you had to do was be in the Racoon Patrol. Every troop is divided into patrols. Generally of boys the same age.
Note there is also a Beaver Patrol but we don't talk about them.
