This vase is 9.25" high x 4" diameter and weighs 3 lbs 9 ounces. It is made of clear, blues, green, brown and yellow glass. It has some defects, scratches scuffs, etc., and a few bubbles. There is a lot of honest bottom wear.

A poor description and honest but not great photos of the vase's deficiencies from a seller in Lamar County, Texas, maybe made me the only bidder at $10. I watched it for a few days and only decided to purchase it in the last few seconds of the auction out of curiosity. It actually turned out to be in better than described condition. A lot better.

The seller noted a fogginess to the glass in places which he could not remove. I saw that when the vase arrived, and it would not come off after soaking it in soapy water for a while and scrubbing. I was later able to remove it using rubbing alcohol. Maybe tobacco residue? Don't know.... Though this is very thick glass, the exterior surface is mirrored, to some extent, on the interior making it very difficult to clean the inside, as well.

I think I saw one of these at auction some time ago being offered as a labeled example of Sanyu/Narumi Fantasy Glass, but not 100% positive of that. I did find several examples of Sanyu/Narumi glass that were very similar to this vase but none exactly like it. They were close enough, however, that I think it is safe to conclude that this is Sanyu/Narumi Fantasy Glass.

Though it is not perfect, it was only $10 and there is no example of one of these on CW that I could find, but I only searched the Japanese art glass category.

Is there blue in it or is it just picking up the background colour?
    6. kwqd kwqd, 3 years ago
The vase is made up of blue and green glass, BHIFOS. The seller's choice of a blue background was not the best choice for displaying this vase....
