We evolve as collectors, time will bring change and new focuses for our interests.
I have always been fascinated by the huge worldwide phenomenon of the decorative arts, and how industrialisation created new markets for the emerging middle class in Europe, that was one of the major economical benefits, Victorians had a taste for the appearance of wealth and their parlors reflected this by favoring ornate displays.
England and Bohemia during the post mid 19th century, shared a decorative art glass production, with pairs of vases and other mantel pieces, catering to the British population, often with similar styles and fabrication, so much so, that today it is still a challenge to differentiate them.
I am posting my new antique hand painted opaque taupe glass vase, 9 inches high, with gilding mostly worn off, heavy enamels with wear but still vibrant, cut upper rim, no pontil, mold lines, and a heavy cased interior layer.
Harrach is my guess.
Very beautiful!!
Beautiful, indeed. And thank you for the observations and insights above. How are you doing these days?
