I purchased this at an auction two days ago. It's a Marklin model 4149 steam engine and boiler. Marklin, a German manufacturer, was making model toys since the 1800's and is still making them today. This early 1909 model even has the ability to replenish the water to the boiler while running. It has a built - in pump that is operated by the steam piston. It also has a flyball governor to control the speed, and a separate oil reservoir to hold the piston's steam oil (steam engine pistons require a special oil to lube the piston). It runs great on the alcohol burner, located behind the boiler door.
Full steam ahead ! ...
