Hello everyone!!
Another of the cast iron pigs in my collection is this vintage cast iron piggy bank with glass eyes. It's nicely painted with much detail and I do love those glass eyes. This one is fairly large for a piggy bank and measures 10 1/2" long, 4 1/2" tall and weighs in at 7lbs 5oz. So, this one could easily be used as a doorstop as well as a still bank. It still retains 99% of it's original paint.
I've done a lot of research on this one and I've seen many different views on when and where this particular design was made. Some say it was made in France in early 1900's, some say it was made in Germany in the early 1900's and some say it's American and made in the late 1800's. However, I differ their opinions and I believe it's American and probably made sometime during the first half of the 20th century. But, that’s just my opinion. The others may very well be correct.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
Scott
I saw a piggy bank recently I wanted it was twice as big over 20 inches and made of glass. That would have been probably too hard to manage esp if it was full. I love this ones side profile, nice catch !~
Nice.
Now that's a cool piggy bank, he's so great Scott!

Thanks hotairfan!! Cast iron is my favorite. I'm not sure if one can have too many cast iron pieces, but I have far too many:)
