On the 'other side' of my backyard fence, my property actually continues for a further reasonable bit which literally 'grows wild' on somewhat of a hill down towards a busy 4-lane street below. The various trees and prickly vines and whatever back there actually serves as a rather effective "buffer" for the street noise as well as providing privacy -- the city and utility crews give it any cutting they think it ever needs, and I don't have to?! :-) :-) :-)

I went climbing around back there anyway the other day, taking advantage of a nice sunny warm day while its technically still winter here -- thus the overgrowth hasn't started anew, and the snakes/rodents/etc are still mostly hiding out. :-) Frankly it was probably the most time I've ever spent back there, I was actually kinda exploring to see if maybe I *could* actually move the fence further back, but nevermind...

While there, I discovered and then rescued the little pile of powerline parts seen here. They'd been there awhile, I wouldn't have seen any if I wouldn't have stepped on one -- and the utility hasn't done actual electricity line work down there for a long time... so "extras"? "leftovers"?? I dunno, who cares when thinking about how much money I've given to those people over the years...??? <groan>

There are six hanging insulators all the same, and one bracket thing that I believe is intended to hold a huge fuse. The insulators can be strung together in groups using heavy clevis pins that weren't on them, and they have their maker's info, weight rating, and part number info cast in the metal. At least a couple look like they have numbered date codes (?) in the glazing of the ceramic portions. The fuseholder thing has a maker's name cast into its metal part, also various part numbers.

I'm sure I can find *something, someplace* that's more interesting to do with them, than just leaving them in a pile amongst overgrown weeds??? ;-) :-) :-)
