My grandfather attended the curtiss Wright technical institute for aircraft mechanics in 1939 at the Mira Loma flight academy in oxnard ca where he obtained the title of hangar cheif. After the war ended he was offered the position of superintendent of specialized shops with the Grand Central Aircraft Co. stationed at Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale Ca. He oversaw the renovation and overhaul of warbirds being made for civilian use since they were no longer needed for battle.
In these pictures you will see just a small fraction of the war time aviation memorabilia that I inherited from my grandfather. In the photo he is receiving his 10 years of service 14k solid gold pin which had been previously announced in the local newspaper which I also have in my possession. The pins and and a few of his personal identification cards are seen in the last pic. I have a TON of historical documents relating to Grand Central air terminal from 1939 to the mid 50s and if you're interested id be happy to share them.
Wonderful items from your grandfather's fascinating career. He must have had alot of great stories, I remember the warbirds overhaul scene in Best Years of Our Lives. Thank you for sharing these proud family mementos
