Invincible Tire Tester by U.S. Gauge Company
Picked this up today. As you know, I love old tools. You can see I used a pocket watch holder to take pictures..gives you an idea of size.
Says "PAT'D SEPT 1906 OTHER PAT PENDING". Around the top of the dial..(hard to read in red letters) "SIZE OF TIRES 3, 3 1/2, 4, 5, 5 1/2-6"
30x3 and would 30x3 1/2 would be Ford Model T tires.
U.S. GAUGE COMPANY- N.Y.
"Founded in 1904, US Gauge's product offering started as a bourdon tube pressure gauge, but has expanded over the years"
BOURDON NOT BOURDUEX
Bordeaux wine is produced in the Bordeaux region of southwest France. ...
"Eugene Bourdon (1808–1884) was a brilliant French watchmaker and engineer who invented the Bourdon gauge in 1849."
"Eugene Bourdon decided to try to develop this new type of pressure measurement device in the late 1840s because of the increasing number of horrific accidents involving very high-pressure steam locomotive engines. The accident rate and number of deaths from steam engine explosions dropped significantly within a couple of years of the introduction of the Bourdon gauge."
