I had a pair of "clackers" when I was a kid (until Mom took them away, that is) but I was never allowed to have a pair of nunchucks -- this set came along many years later. ;-) :-)

Also apparently known as "nunchaku", their history is easy enough to find online.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nunchaku

Two solid wood octagonal handles fastened together with a short but sturdy welded link chain and swivel hardware. One really does need to "know how to use them" or risk real damage to oneself (mostly, I suppose) or one's furnishings and windows. For me, they just hang around (literally) on a hook, to look fun. . . ;-) :-) :-)

I've been meaning to show some of my weapons...and I have the perfect nunchaku story that involves furniture and damage.

I brought several sets back from SE Asia. I studied Wing Chun and a bit of Hapkido there. A couple of sets, one of them my favorite set, were stolen from my hold baggage. Still miss that set. Not sure what kind of wood that set was made from but it was relatively light but extremely hard. I called that one my "candy canes".

They were originally used for flailng rice but adapted into weapons...

BTW, don't practice with these if you have cats. They are attracted by the motion and will try to sniff or paw them and one glancing blow would shatter their little skulls.

There is this weapons "expert" on YouTube who really doesn't like Nunchucks. He calls them stupid, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUWoUM4Wttc) but if Bruce Lee were still alive I think the critic would have to put up or shut up with his reasons. Then there are a lot of folks on YouTube who challenge his assertions. Anyway, I loved watching Bruce Lee work his magic with one or two of them. Thanks for sharing yours.
