Here is an 8"H x 10"W colorful glazed ceramic teapot featuring a monkey mom and baby, removable parrot top, vines, bananas and flowers in a tropical design from the Jungle Spree series by Strata Group, made in the Philippines ca 1990s
Because this is the traditional pre-Lent weekend for Carnaval in Brazil to be held but the parades have been postponed due to the virus, I am still showing some animals found in the Amazon rainforest in tribute
This is really awesome Jenni!! At first glance I thought it was a Fitz & Floyd teapot.
I was bidding on a few monkey teapots last week which sold today Feb 24 by auction from Skinner. They were from G.B. and part of the 1870's lineup from Majolica and selling for well over a thous each, but magnificent ones you see so rarely. Did not see results but on comp now. This one is surprisingly well done and not unlike the Majolica ones. I was about to open my sealed book on rare teapots, it is a hardcover of very rare and incredible teapots. Nice to see your colourful one in that tradition !~
The monkeys faces are so cute on this!

Thanks so much Scott for your super comment, yes it is quite like a Fitz & Floyd monkey teapot, which coincidentally I posted a F&F monkey teapot here a few yrs ago! They are a similar tropical design but the F&F has a solo monkey and darker color, where this one is brighter & much more rainforest looking, I really love it
Yes Phil it is very much a Majolica style, wow I did not know the antique ones were priced in the thousands but they're always way colorful & gorgeous. Your rare teapot book sounds fabulous, there must be endlessly beautiful designs. Thank you for your fantastic praise & the terrific info
MrsT I'm so glad the adorable monkey faces appealed to you, I think it's very sweet how they are looking straight on, they are very curious as all monkeys are! Thank you for your wonderful comment :)
Cute monkeys!
Thank you vintagelamp for your sweet comment & love for these playful monkeys, very glad you enjoyed this teapot
Very unusual and strange little item, it’s very colorful which suits the theme your paying tribute to! The entire festivities of the Brazilian Carnivale sounds so fun and fantastic to be a part of( very lucky to see it in person, if you do Jenni!)
Lauren thank you so much for your super comment & love for this monkey teapot, yes it is quite unusual and I love the way it reminds me of the Amazon rainforest. No I have never personally been to Brazil and just watched the Carnaval parades on our Brazilian cable television channel, I've taped over ten years of those fabulous floats at the parades, then I find out you can see each one on ytube going back yrs, wish I had known!! Still, they are beautiful & fun to watch while they're happening it is almost like being there, a very colorful and happy event for the Brazilians - my husband did visit there some time ago on business, and one man he worked with said the roar from the parade stadium is so loud they can't sleep lol (goes on for five nights) so perhaps it's better to see it on TV!!
Thank you Maureen for the love for my tropical monkey teapot, I hope it gave you a smile and you enjoyed the summery design. I for one can't wait to see the end of a cold winter here!!
Thank you Reise for the love for this monkey teapot, very glad you liked it and always grateful for your kind consideration
Many thanks Bronmar for the love for this monkey pot, a surprise find for me as I really like monkey stuff :)
Thanks prettym & jmiller for the love, very nice of you both & greatly appreciated
