I bought this bicycle at a swap meet in TN. For a project for me & my son. It is a Boys Murray 24" Vanguard x3...dated somewheres 1954-58, by the seriel #. We decided on a "RatRod" theme as our direction and took the local bicycle shows by storm. His first show he won 1st place in is class and also best of show. Second show he won 1st place and his third this year also 1st place in jr. division. A 10 year olds work paid off in some nice Ribbons to display. He is very happy and we have took on more than a dozen bikes since last year but, this is still his Favorite !!
Way to go young man!

Cool bike and a happy kid, gotta love that!
I've built more than a couple of bikes for my nephew and each new one become his favorite, but then he likes them all!
Thanks DavesCoolStuff !! We've done lots of bikes since this one...but he still says this is his favorite !!
WOW! I was looking for photos of that model bike. I got one for chistmass when I was about 12 (circa 1958). Mine was a 26 inch. The frame was black and the rest was gold with chrome fenders and rims There was horn in the tank and a headlight on the front fender. The aircraft on the tank is a photo of the X3 experimental jet (1953-1956). Mine had the same details on the tank and chain guard. I would love to be able to find one like it. "Congrats" to your son.
Thanks larry simmon, glad it brought back some memories ! We have yet to see another like it. We really like this bike too !!
Thanks to all for the Loves thus far !!!
