Hello everyone, I haven't been around for a while. I hope everyone is fine.
Today I have a question for you:
I found this old cameo for next to nothing but noticed that it was badly damaged. The top layer of the shell on the right side has come off. Now I know that the cameo was not worth much to start with but is there a way to aesthetically fix it up? Maybe some kind of "sealer" or clear finish could make it look better? It is a big piece and I was thinking to put it in a display case with some other old items.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking::
So very beautiful!!
Thanks so much for your comment, jscotto363:)
That is a wonderful piece of art!
Thanks so much for your comment, Alfie21. I am glad you like it in spite of the damage:)
Hi Mary, long time no see. I hope you are doing well.
Thanks for your comment. I wish Kyratango would have a look :)
Ta daa! Here I am ;-))
As you intend to display it only, I'd have a try with acrylic paint, mixed to match the shell color, applied carefully only on the damaged part, then once fully dry brush it with incolor shoe polish or wax.
Resin would be very hard to remove if you aren't satisfied of the result...
Hi kyratango, sorry for the late reply. I was so hoping you would have a look, and here you are! Many thanks!!!
I will have a look at my acrylic paint. It never crossed my mind to use it for the repair/fixing it up. The finishing touch is a great idea, too. I will have to muster some courage, but when I put myself together, I will post the result.
Thanks again,
Gudrun
