Greetings!
I received this brooch and am SO curious about the history of the pin. Does anyone have any idea:
1. What is this character? A bird?
2. What era? My guess is the 1950's or 1960's.
3. Was this intended to be used as a traditional locket (photo) or something else?
4. I should note that the Front of the pin has the most accurate coloring. It is a shamrock green with yellow-gold coloring.
I've tried Google image search and scouring the web without little luck! I would appreciate any insight as I love the piece.
Adorable bird!
According to a poshmark ad, it's a "vintage green bird solid perfume brooch locket," 1960s perfume brooch twists to open faint floral solid perfume. Very pretty piece
@Newfld, thank you for your response! Would you be able to provide the Poshmark ad link? I had no idea solid perfume was used in brooches. Cool! It makes sense, though, as someone might lean in and give a hug.
@Newfld apologies I find the Poshmark ad! I am curious as to how you located this item! Thanks!
Does anyone know what company manufactured these? :)
Hi ccdraws,
Glad you were able to locate the poshmark ad for your pretty bird as I'm not a "link" person, I just kept googling images of your bright green bird & suspected it could be a solid perfume holder. As to the co. that made it I think Avon could be a possibility but in those days solid perfume pieces were made by many incl. Estee Lauder. Good luck in your search!
Thanks Newfld! Closing this case for now.
