Hello everyone!!
Among all of the dogs, rabbits and hares, in my collection, is this beautiful antique cast iron peacock doorstop. These peacock doorstops were beautifully painted and well detailed. It's circa 1910 and still in remarkable condition for its' age. Most of these peacocks I've seen have experienced severe paint loss as well as being severely rusted. This one still retains 80% of its' original paint and well preserved. I only had to clean this one and apply a thin coat of transparent wax to preserve it. There are no markings and no one has been able to determine which foundry made this one. This peacock measures approximately 6 1/4" tall, 6 5/8" wide and weighs 5lbs 5oz.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Thank you both so very much for the loves and for stopping in!!
Its so nice that they painted these doorstops. Actually the size makes it more of a bookend, these are great to collect !~
Phil,
Thanks very much!! It would definitely make a great bookend, but the weight of it makes a great doorstop. I’d wanted one of these for quite a long time. Though it carries a high value, every seller is asking a small fortune for theirs. I landed this one for less than $100.

What an elegant peacock, I really love the fan tail feathers with 'eyes' - nice one Scott
Jenni,
Thank you!! I too love the eyes of the feathers. I do wish this one hadn't experienced so much paint loss, but it's still a fine doorstop.

vintagelamp,

Thanks so very much for the love and for stopping in!!
Eileen,
Thanks very much! Yes, this one is a high quality and high dollar doorstop. These go for around $$$$. One of our neighbors, when I was a kid, had peacocks and they always sounded like a child yelling out in distress or screaming the word "HELP"!
