Montgomery Ward Wire Recorder/Phonograph
This was my fathers (if still alive he would be 101 years old), wire recorder. I do not remember him playing records on it, but I do remember him making a lot of wire recordings.
I’m trying to find someone in my area that can go through it and restore it.

Wow, what a completely *fascinating* looking machine. Whoever you find to work on it will be lucky indeed, for the opportunity to learn everything about it! Is the machine itself actually branded AIRLINE or just the wire spools? Any model number or label or anything? Thanks for sharing it!!
This one's kinda close, sorta, but doesn't have the tonearm part that'd work with records instead of wire spools...???

A very interesting item!! The first I've ever seen. Hope you can find someone to restore this.
AnythingObscure,
In your link to the recorders, on the page with the advertisement showing 6 recorders, mine is the center one in the top row.
In the 3rd photo above, the inside of the lid with the spools & mike, the mike has Airline on it.
Also on the pocket holding the mike is a metal tag which reads:
IF YOU WRITE TO US ABOUT THIS ARTICLE OR IF YOU ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS ALWAYS MENTION MODEL NUMBER
94-GCD-3652A
ORDER REPLACEMENT PARTS THROUGH ANY OF OUR RETAIL STORES OR MY MAIL
MONTGOMERY WARD & CO.
The case is wood with a cloth cover. The cloth on the back is missing & shabby in other areas. The speaker is on the left side. The right side has 4 (2 each) in put & out put jacks. Labeled High, Low, Mike, Radio.
On a side note, my father was a minister & if he couldn’t get anyone to sing a song for the congregation he would get my brother and me to sing. Hence a couple of these wire spools have my brother and I singing a duet. I just want to get this working so I can hear how bad we really were.

Thank you to all who hit the love button.
