At first I thought it might be a paint sprayer, but I do not see where you would connect a hose. I don't know what the thing with the wooden handle on top is used for. I'm hoping someone has seen this before and can enlighten me. Thanks
It's a blow torch with a soldering tool
They usually run on gasoline or alcohol
I agree with dav2no1 -- a torch-heated soldering copper, probably for use doing rather heavy duty soldering work on something other than electrical stuff. It is in really clean condition, looks like somebody has had it all apart and polished/restored it.
The base looks like a shell from WW1, or trench art base, love it !~
Thank you guys, your the best.
We still use these for acid soldering drain pans and copper gutters, copper chimney caps. Only we use propane burners and lay the iron on the flame.
