1950 Nicholson File Filosophy Book & Files
I found this booklet in the workshop. Of course the drawers of dad's (now my..) workshop are full of Nicholson files. The booklet is very informative and has history, how files are made, types of files, cuts of files, shapes, uses of files and how to sharpen different types of saws. There's lots of pictures so you can see the different examples.
In the picture you will see a handy file and some half round bastard files. I also included a picture of a vintage wooden file handle. Any file can be placed in the handle and tightened down.
While looking for Nicholson File history, I found another CW post that has the history, do I'll link it in the comments.

So that’s why files have that pointed end!?!
I never considered it could be for handle attachment.
Something else I’ve learned on CW.
Lots to learn about files. There's also some that have a "safe edge" this is a file that cuts on the face, but the edges are smooth.
