Can anyone help identify the vase that has been inherited from my great uncle. It was in his home for as long as I can remember it was gifted to him and he stated that it was brought to America on a clipper ship in the 1860s it has a small face that goes beside it. I have searched for many years but I can’t find anything that is like it with the hand painting and gold samurai? Panel.
I haven’t decided if they’re flying or fighting. I was told it was Japanese but I am feeling it might be Chinese Japanese Imari . It is approximately 26 inches tall and as far as I can tell in perfect condition any information would be appreciated thank you

I believe it to be Japanese Satsuma.
