This nightstand was made between 1934 and the 1960s when this Louisville, Kentucky company closed. Everything except the bottom of the drawer is made of solid cherry using dovetail joinery. It is in really nice shape considering its age. A GW find a couple of days ago for $16. This was part of Willett's "Marblehead" line, which is stamped on the bottom of the drawer.
The quality of materials and construction is impressive which may be why Willett went out of business. Even the back of the table is finished and polished like the front side.

Not sure if this qualifies as MCM even though it was made during that period.....
Nice find!
Gorgeous piece, I like them simple like this although I prefer maybe a small cabinet for my books also.
Thanks for your comment Watchsearcher!
Thanks for your comments PhilDMorris! If it had been in perfect shape I would not have bought it. My cats have already put some scratches on the top and it has only n been in my new house for a couple of hours.

Thanks for your comment Eileen! It is very well made. It has a lot of character, too. I think it must have been used as a telephone stand as there are lots of indentations in the top from notes people wrote. I had it a few days before noticing that.
Beautiful peice you have there.
