    Hello everyone!!
Another rabbit from my collection. This one is a vintage (possibly antique) sitting rabbit that was produced by Spencer & Sons Foundry, in Guilford, Conn, in the early 1900's. This one is a double sided wedge style doorstop. I've had this one for several years now and had forgotten about it until I came across it while rearranging one of my storage units this past weekend. I cleaned it and gave it a light coat of transparent wax to help protect its’ finish. I believe this one is a copy of the original and measures 11 1/8" tall and 8 3/4" wide. It weighs 5lbs 11oz. The original measures 12 1/8" tall and 9" wide. The original version of this doorstop is shown in pic #4 (courtesy of Doorstops.com).

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

      Penny,
Thanks!! He looks like a hare to me as well, but the doorstop books all list him as a rabbit.

      Eileen,
Thanks!! Doorstops go all the way back into the 18th century (possibly before). The original is from the early 1900's and this is a copy which would date to the 1930's. I just posted a pic of the original.
