This metal ram is 3.75" long x 3" high x 1.75" wide and weighs 14 ounces. It is magnetic but lighter than it should be, so maybe an alloy, possibly Alnico which is more commonly used to make magnets.
This ram was probably produced by Saegusa's studio after his death, based on my understanding of the marks used by Saegusa, I am still trying to sort out the various marks used by Saegusa and his studio.
I may try to put together a complete set of SS okimono for the Japanese zodiac since I am only short five.
Your research is fantastic Kevin, you have so much knowledge.
Saeguso has to be my favourite Japanese designer of okimono. This shows everything great about his work.
Beautifully sculpted ram, nice one Kevin
Thanks for the nice comment, Karen! His work is very recognizable, isn't it?
