I've had this ring since I was a boy, and recently re-discovered it. It had belonged to one of my favorite 'adult' cousins then who ended up passing away rather prematurely, and was given to me either by my aunt (his mother) directly or my parents (on her behalf) after he died, apparently because I'd liked it 'out loud' sometime, for some reason, that they remembered. (??) I don't really remember those details of how it came to me and that's alright -- what I really DO wish I remembered for certain right now is that I "believe" my cousin had actually **made** it, as well as worn it himself.
If the pictures don't make it clear, it was once half of the business end of a heavy silver table fork, cut from its handle and formed into a ring. I have always believed it is sterling silver but being handmade (as I believe, again) there aren't any markings now on it to show that and, in fact, my pictures here (after polishing it up again somewhat) make it look like it actually could be silver plating on a different but likewise silver colored base metal with some of the outer plating now worn off. It also now shows various little scratches/scars it has picked up since becoming mine, I'm sure it would have been way too large for me to have been able to wear when I got it, but by the time I became a teenager I probably 'squeezed it smaller' myself in order to finally be able to wear it, and could have even 'opened it back up' later when my fingers mostly turned into adult hands. Now as the first couple pics show, it fits me as a pinky ring. (though I remain completely undecided exactly *how* to, as just by its nature it doesn't really have a 'top' or 'bottom' or 'back' or 'front' to orient on the finger -- it is comfortable to wear in most any position where it ends up. It weighs a little under 8g.
